What is Catalyst?

Catalyst is a year-long discipleship and intentional leadership program designed to grow and challenge students in their junior and senior year of high school. The program begins with a trip in the later part of the summer before their junior or senior year, and is for the sake of mission, unity, and to form a foundation of strong relationships for community and discipleship within the coming year. The trip this year is to Memphis, TN, July 10th-15th, 2023.

The program year is a combination of different tracks the students commit to that are both foundational and transformational with the hope of launching them into the next season of life as a fully devoted and dedicated disciple of Christ. The tracks are broken down as follows:

  • ALONGSIDERS
Small groups of 4-7 students that build community & do life together while walking alongside each other in accountability. These groups are gender-specific, meet every other week, and are committed to seeing & meeting a need in their community through missional outreach opportunities.
  • THEOLOGY 101 & LIFE LEADERSHIP
For all other Sunday evenings that we meet, all Catalyst students will be together under one roof to cover the topics of theology, leadership, and life skills. We’ll bring in trusted leaders who are experts in their fields that will challenge, encourage, and equip our students to be world changers in their communities.

Students that participate in the Catalyst Discipleship Program are also expected to be contributors to the mission of Grace Community Church as serving the local body is a key piece to their discipleship. These students will have opportunities to be servant leaders in the church by committing to serving in a variety of areas including, but not limited to: our Next Gen Ministries (JOY, Grace K!ds, G56, GSM) on Sunday mornings or Wednesday nights, A/V Team, Sunday Morning Welcome Team, Worship Team, etc. Catalyst students are expected to be missional in their mindset on a Sunday morning, whether in or out of the GSM room, and will be provided additional opportunities to volunteer throughout the year.
