Elwood Stetson

Elwood and Kathryn Stetson moved to Tyler in 1974 to be an intern at Grace, formerly Evangelical Methodist Church. For 25 years he was Director of Pastoral Care and Counseling at the University of Texas Health Center at Tyler. Since 2001 he has been a part-time chaplain and bereavement counselor for Hospice of East Texas.
Elwood earned a BA from the University of Montana, in Missoula, Montana in 1966, a Master of Education at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan in 1971, and a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling at UT Tyler in l986.
He is an elder emeritus at Grace, served as a counselor at Grace Counseling Center for seven years, and is currently part time on Grace Pastoral Care Staff. Elwood has served on a number of community organizations and boards, including Tyler Ministerial Alliance, Community Bereavement Committee, Tyler Area Senior Citizens Association, Leadership Tyler, and Tyler Aids Services.
