I grew up in Akron, Ohio. My parents began walking with Christ during my late elementary school years, and I watched them live out their faith and saw their friends from church do the same. In spite of those examples, I kept Christ at a distance. It wasn’t until the summer before my senior year in high school that I began to take my relationship with Christ seriously. Young Life played a key role in my decision to give my life to Christ.
I attended Taylor University in Upland, Indiana, where I majored in Business. After graduation, I worked for my dad in the family business, saw much of the country from the seat of a bicycle, and volunteered with Young Life. Around this time, I met Vicki. She was on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ, and God used her in a major way to move me toward ministry.
Vicki and I were married in November of 1987 and immediately moved to Portland, Oregon, where I attended Western Seminary. I graduated from Western with a Masters of Divinity and a Masters of Theology. We have had the privilege of serving in three great churches over the years. We have also been privileged to raise two incredible children, Micah and Chelsea, and look forward to seeing how God uses them to impact the world.
I love that Grace Community Church is a place filled with believers who want to be and make disciples. What an honor and joy to serve in a place like this.
