Happy Thanksgiving!!
Happy Thanksgiving!!

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at the Grace K!DS blog! We hope your day is filled to the brim with yummy food and a sweet community.

The beautiful thing about the gospel of grace is that it rises above our circumstances, meets us where we are, and no matter what gives us something to be oh so very thankful for. No matter your circumstances this year, those of us in the family of God always always have a reason to say, “Thank you, Jesus, for all you have done.”

May we always posture ourselves in gratefulness, having eyes that are open to see the blessings from our Father. May we be disciplined in our thankfulness, expressing gratitude even when we don’t want to. Even when things are hard. Even when we feel anxious or fearful or hurt or confused. Even when.

I find this fascinating–and I’m going to go sciency on you for a second.

“When we express gratitude and receive the same, our brain releases dopamine and serotonin, the two crucial neurotransmitters responsible for our emotions, and they make us feel ‘good’. They enhance our mood immediately, making us feel happy from the inside. By consciously practicing gratitude every day, we can help these neural pathways to strengthen themselves and ultimately create a permanent grateful and positive nature within ourselves.”

So in this beautiful picture of  how scripture and science meet, we can see that we were made to live in a thankful posture because in 1 Thessalonians we are told to, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

Let us not just purpose in our hearts to be thankful today, but purpose in our hearts to pursue the discipline of gratitude every day.

Happy Thanksgiving 🙂 Now, go eat some pie!
