Summer is finally here!!!!!!

Now, what do we do!?!

Aside from vacations and summer camps, you may be searching for ideas or activities to fill your and your kiddo’s days. Below is a list of summer activities for you to try!

  1. Make a bonfire, complete with smores!

  3. Make ice cream in a bag. https://kidstir.com/kids-recipes/ice-cream-in-bag/
  4. Set up an outdoor movie night.
  5. Have a picnic (in the shade of course).
  6. Wash the car and make sure everyone ends up soaked!
  7. Plant a garden.
  8. Play in the sprinkler and make sure to have popsicles nearby!

  11. Make an obstacle course! Make sure and include a sprinkler portion at some point during the obstacle course. 
  12. Watch Emily’s Wonder Lab on Netflix and make a point to try out some of her science experiments with the kids. 
  13. Play hopscotch!
  14. Shadow trace toys or stuffed animals in the morning and then again in the evening.
  15. Find a new splash pad or park in a neighboring town.
  16. Invite a new friend over for lunch.
  17. Build a fort, inside or outside.
  18. Reorganize a space together.
  19. Teach the kids new chores. Maybe not fun now but it will pay off in the long run!
  20. Hang up some outdoor lights, turn on some music, and have an evening dance party.
  21. Have access to water? Go fishing!

  23. If you have bikes, decorate them for the 4th of July and go for a patriotic bike ride.
  24. Make milkshakes
  25. Find a berry farm and pick your own.
  26. Introduce your kids to your favorite childhood movie or show.
  27. Make paper airplanes. There are tons of tutorials found on google to help!
  28. Get a deck of cards and play different games.
  29. Rearrange the furniture. Give the kids some graph paper and let them draw out the plans first.
  30. Pick a book as a family and read a little together each night.
  31. During your travels take something, like a garden gnome, and make a point to take its picture at each destination.
  32. Go visit the campus of a local college. Walk around and take notes of the cool or beautiful things that are found there.
  33. Get a book of riddles, or look them up on google and try to stump one another.
  34. Master a new skill together. Some examples:  juggling, playing an instrument, sewing, etc.
  35. Write a family comic book. Complete with illustrations.
  36. Decorate your driveway with chalk art.
  37. String beads. Make bracelets, necklaces, anklets for the family. They have affordable kits at Hobby Lobby. 
  38. Make a slip and slide with water, an old tarp, and a little soap.
  39. Climb a tree!
  40. Have a water balloon baseball game.
  41. If you have a basketball goal, play a game of horse.
  42. Take a hike. Many parks have walking trails. Pack a bag full of snacks and treat everyone when it’s over!
  43. Camp in your backyard.
  44. Catch lightning bugs!
  45. Stargaze
  46. Bake cookies for a nursing home.
  47. Have a luau in the backyard. Make flower leis, play Hawaiian music, and serve tropical food and drinks.
  48. Invite your kids’ friends over for a sleepover. 
  49. Let the kids plan and cook dinner once or twice a week.
  50. Make fresh lemonade and set up a stand. Donate the proceeds to a local non-profit!

At the end of the day, it’s all about spending precious intentional time with the ones that God has entrusted you with. So, act silly, be weird and make memories!
